Harry Stone, of Hebrew heritage and known as Hop Harry Stone because of the way he delivered his punches, fought extensively in Australia where he arrived in 1913 from the New York area. The Australasian Boxing Record (1924) credits him with almost 250 bouts at the time of his arrival.
He was absent from Australia from January 1914 until 1916, fighting in England and America during that time.
According to research by Barry Hugman in his History of World Championship Boxing, Stone was a claimant to the Welterweight Championship of the World between 1914-1916.
In 1919 Stone won the Lightweight Championship of Australia and in 1920 he won the Australian National Title at Welterweight. He held both national titles until 1921 when he lost the Lightweight Title to Sid Godfrey. He held the Welterweight Title until 1924.
Stone had a very extensive career. He is reputed to have fought over 500 bouts before retiring. Just over 225 fights have been documented and entered on BoxRec so far. Even so, Stone has yet to have a recorded KO or TKO loss. He is the only fighter in
boxing history to have over 200 recorded fights without ever suffering a KO or a TKO in his entire career. The great Benny Valger went almost 250 fights without ever being stopped inside the scheduled distance of a fight except in his last recorded fight and he retired immediately after being stopped.
